Catch a Ghost

Catch a Ghost  - S.E. Jakes

~~~~~ update December 22, 2015 ~~~~
Audio edition, narrated by Adam North
8 hours and 3 min
Overall: 4
Performance: 3,5
Story: 4
I was excited about this whole series being done in audio, and they were all released recently this December. I originally rated this book 3,5 stars, but I've bumped up my rating, since I've read the whole series and have grown to love Prophet and Tom and I feel this first book deserves more than 3,5 stars.
The Hell & High Water series is the only work of Adam North on Audible, so he's a new narrator for me. He does a good job narrating. His voice is deep and rough, so it fitted with the characters.
I liked it, but I didn't quite love it. Or, it's more mixed. I think he does a great Prophet voice, and overall narration. Tom's voice isn't very good, though, in my opinion. He should have had more Southern drawl. North just draws out the words instead of having a drawl to the words. I don't know how to explain it better.
All in all, I enjoyed this audio, and I recommend it.
~~ original review March/April 2015 ~~
*** 3,5 brutal but hot stars ***
Phew, I just met Tom and Prophet, and man, were those two hot together. They are both very angry in the beginning and the plot has some violence which "colored" the book and wasn't so much to my liking. The plot was also intricate, but interesting. I liked how they came together and kind of fought to get to know each other.
And of course there is Tom's Jacob's Ladder.... ;)
-----------------------
As Tom's X-ray came through, Prophet almost bit off his tongue. Clear nipple piercings and slightly more blurry cock piercings. Jesus, he hadn't expected that.
He swallowed hard, and a second agent sputtered, "Holy shit". And then Tom was out, smirking at Prophet and the agents.
"I told you they're attached."
